Chelles Running Blog

Little Pom who met an Aussie eight years ago and moved over here to be with him. Love Brisbane and all it has to offer, not sure if I would have been as keen about getting up at 5am during the English winter for a run!

the week gone by & the week ahead

A quick blog-update of how last week was;

Monday - 30min walk/jog with puppy
Tuesday - nothing - it was my partners birthday and I think I would have been in serious trouble had I left the house at 5am!
Wednesday - 30min walk/jog with puppy
Thursday - Pats speed session
Friday - bit sore - 60min walk
Saturday - 60min walk with puppy
Sunday - 45min good pace run & 20min pool work

The 20min pool work ended a bit suddenly though as puppy fell in, forgot he was a dog and can actually swim and started sinking to the bottom. I decided after fishing him out and him calming down, that that had increased by heart rate enough for one afternoon and finished the session then.

The plan for this week is;
Monday - 30min jog/walk with puppy done
Tuesday - Pats speed session
Wednesday - 30min jog/walk with puppy
Thursday - Pats speed session
Friday - 45min run with friend up from Sydney
Saturday - rest
Sunday - 60min long run, 20mins pool work minus the puppy!!

Will see how it goes, just increasing gradually, hopefully will catch any thing that becomes more than just a niggle that way!

more tortoise than hare......

... though I think he won the race in the end anyway :)

First session back to Pats in over 10 weeks, boy was I nervous! I only purposely chose today to avoid the 3kmTT, I think Tuesday would have put me off going back to running properly if todays pain was anything to go by!!

The session was the usual after the 3KTT, down at New Farm and then back via the Gardens for a 1K no watch. MJ was nice enough to run slooooooooooowly with me on the way down to New Farm, I felt pretty good going slow and steady. After the usual run throughs we started on the6*2min efforts. I was waaaaaaaaaaaaay at the back of the pack, in fact, I dont think there was anyone else behind me, nevermind. The first 2 efforts felt good and I managed to get back to the start with the bulk of the group. Effort 3 and 4 were really draining and I only just made it back in time, when Kate suggested a splinter group after the 5th effort I felt that my legs had no choice but to go. We still did the 6th effort, but on our way back to the Gardens. This gave us a bit more time to recouperate before the 1km no watch TT. I put down 5.20 for my time, think I got about 5.36 (I was really dragging my feet by this point!!).

It was great to be back there though and I cant wait to go again next week, its going to be hard work getting back up to speed but I really want, my goal is to do so by Christmas. My Saturday longruns are a bit hampered at the moment due to Puppy School being on Saturday morning, but its only for another few weeks, and I'm probably better off doing my own slow 60mins for now and building on that before I join the group anyway!!

Knee rating after session - 7/10 - more stretching needed!
